Our Mission

Why The Welcome Wag Exists

The Welcome Wag started with a simple realization after a few hours of scrolling on TikTok:
Dogs have an incredible way of helping people find one another.

That quickly morphed into a vision for a dog-friendly, neuro-affirming taphouse. Then it evolved into something bigger: a belief that all kind humans deserve spaces where they feel welcome, connected, and free to be themselves.

Now I’m working to create a community where dogs are celebrated, kind humans feel at ease, and meaningful connections happen organically.

What does that look like right now? I’m not quite sure yet.

One thing I've learned is that community doesn't have to wait for a building. It starts with people showing up for one another. So, maybe it starts with small meetups at existing local breweries that eventually turn into a recurring set of events. Maybe one day that journey does lead to a dog-friendly, neuro-affirming neighborhood taphouse. Or maybe it leads somewhere I haven't imagined yet. Either way, the mission stays the same: creating spaces where kind people feel welcome, dogs are celebrated, and everyone feels safe enough to simply be themselves.

Our long-term vision includes creating opportunities for displaced LGBTQ+ youth and youth who have aged out of foster care, while building a space that embraces diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

For now, I’m just getting started. And I’m glad you're here.

With a wag,
